Super Mario Maker 2

Mario & Luigi are two of Nintendo’s most legendary gaming characters. Over the years, Mario games have got better and better. Super Mario Maker 2 came out in 2019. Players take on the role of a designer as they create their own levels, or they can jump their way through a variety of levels created by other players. The Super Mario Maker 2 community is full of creative minds resulting in plenty of weird and wacky courses to enjoy. So, whether you’re looking to create your own Mario courses or play levels that have been created by other players, this game is excellent for everyone.

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening

Link’s Awakening was first released on Gameboy over 25 years ago and was the first game in The Legend of Zelda series. It’s recently been remastered for Nintendo Switch and the reviews were fantastic. The modern imagining took players back to the start of the series and is a fantastic game for anyone looking to get into The Legend of Zelda games. The plot is based on a young hero called Link who awakens on an island and must defeat enemies and complete challenges in order to escape the island.

The PEGI rating is suitable for people aged 7 and over and it’s a great start or addition to any Nintendo Switch game collection. Pick up your copy here.

Pokémon Sword & Shield

The adorable graphics and loveable Pokémon make any game in the series a fantastic option as a Christmas gift. Pokémon Sword & Shield is the 8th game and features a brand-new RPG adventure, giving players a whole new world called the Galar region to explore. Along with the new region comes a new storyline, new Pokémon and even more adventure. There are so many adorable Pokémon to seek out, catch and add to your Pokedex – it’s a great game for previous Pokémon fans or for players who are new to the series.

Pokémon Sword & Pokémon Shield are two different games and there a few differences between each version. There will be gyms (essentially boss battles) that are exclusive to each version, you’ll also get some slightly different Pokémon and different Legendary Pokémon. Both games have striking legendary Wolf Pokémon; Zacian, who wields a powerful sword and moves gracefully, while Shield has the legendary Zamazenta, who has a strong, armour-like mane.

Whether you’re looking to enhance their gaming experience or simply protect a new console, there are plenty of Nintendo accessories to choose from. They make a great stocking filler and are just as good to pair with a new console.

A wired or wireless headset can make a big difference. From hearing enemy footsteps in Fortnite to being in the heart of the action in The Legend of Zelda, a headset can enhance any game. There are so many headsets perfect for every budget, no matter how big or small.

The Turtle Beach Recon 70N Wired Gaming Headset is a great option for gamers. It’s not expensive but it has high-quality speakers to produce impressive audio and leather-wrapped ear cushions for maximum comfort. This headset also has a high-sensitivity mic which you can flip up to mute. It’s one of the best headsets for Nintendo Switch and a fantastic option for a Christmas gift.

Protective Cases

The Nintendo Switch is designed to be taken with gamers wherever they go. However, screens can be scratched if they’re just put in bags so it’s always a great idea to get a protective case. It’s like buying a new phone – it’s better not to risk a scratch or any damage should an accident happen.

Many carry cases include a screen protector and there are some funky designs too. From Poké Ball themed to bright colours, there are plenty to choose from! You can find GAME’s full range here.

TOP TIP: The Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite are two different sizes, so remember to check that the carry case matches the console the gamer has.

Additional Joy-Con's

Every Nintendo Switch console comes with Joy-Con’s, and on a Nintendo Switch Lite the controllers are attached. Additional Joy-Cons can come in handy for both console types!

Nintendo Switch

Whilst the consoles come with two Joy-Con’s already, some games such as Super Mario Party and Overcooked 2 allows you to play with up to four players! Extra controllers mean extra players and even more fun. Whether it’s game time for the whole family or hosting a gaming night with friends, you never know when you might need extra controllers!

Typically, the Nintendo Switch Neon comes with red and blue Joy-Cons whilst the Grey version comes with Grey Joy-Cons. Nintendo have also released a variety of coloured Joy-Con controllers so players can now personalise their console with some vibrant colours.

Nintendo Switch Lite

Because the Nintendo Switch Lite comes with attached controllers, players don’t get Joy-Con’s. You can wirelessly connect an additional pair of Joy-Cons if you would like to. This lets players enjoy the motion and vibration features in the Joy-Cons and lets gamers play games such as Super Mario Party that do require the Joy-Cons. If you do purchase extra Joy-Cons, we recommend you also get a Charging Dock so players can easily recharge all controllers, ready for their next gaming session.

Joy-Cons are great (the clue’s in the name) but some games just feel that little bit better with a traditional controller – that’s where the Pro Controllers come in. From wired to wireless there are a variety available that give players a traditional games console feeling. As you project your games onto the TV, sometimes there is nothing better than playing through a classic Nintendo game with a controller rather than a Joy-Con.

Poké Ball Plus

If you’re gifting for a Pokémon enthusiast, the Poké Ball Plus brings the adventures into real life. It is a controller that is shaped and designed to look like a Poké Ball. Players can throw the Poké Balls in-game with a flick of the wrist. The ball lights up, vibrates and plays sounds to imitate a real-life Pokémon in your hand. It’s adorable and a great gift!
