Bungie hard at work on new game franchise

According to Eurogamer, Activision has announced that now that Bungie has finished work on Halo: Reach - which hits UK stores on September 14th for the Xbox 360 - the developer is now hard at work creating an entirely new game franchise set in an entirely new gaming universe.

While the publisher, which recently signed a ten-year deal with the Halo developer, has said that Bungie's new game will be hidden from the public for the remainder of 2010 at least, it has let a little bit slip on how things are going with the title's development.

During an investor call, the publisher's chief financial officer Thomas Tippl said that, "Our partnership with Bungie is an extraordinary addition to our franchise portfolio. Bungie's in development on a groundbreaking new game universe? and today, we are happy to report that the majority of the Bungie team is settling in to its new space and is now focused on crafting their new universe.?

This new universe then: it's not Halo, but what is it? That's going to keep us up late into the night for the foreseeable future. Luckily, after September, we'll have Halo: Reach to keep us company.
