Ace Combat: Assault Horizon touches down on PC

Keyboard-wielding wannabe Mavericks can exhale at long last - Namco's blistering aerial action game Ace Combat: Assault Horizon has finally reached the PC in a promisingly titled Enhanced Edition.

The release comes a mere fifteen months after the game's October 2011 release on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but it sounds like the wait has been worth it. For one thing, the game runs in 1920x1200 resolution at a silky 60fps, far beyond the power of any console. PC owners also get eight exclusive new planes, twenty seven new aircraft skins, nine additional skill upgrades and two entirely new maps. You'll also be able to take part in 16 vs 16 multiplayer dogfights, double the number possible on consoles.

Assault Horizon marks the first time the long-running aerial warfare sim has been available on PC, having started life as an arcade machine back in 1992 before becoming a console mainstay, particularly on the PlayStation, where it clocked up five sequels.

Ace Combat: Assault Horizon is out right now for PC at the incredibly reasonable price of £24.99.
