IMPORTANT - Please check the following before beginning your transfer

1. DO NOT register your Nintendo Network ID (NNID) on your New Nintendo 3DS system. Your NNID will automatically be transferred along with your data.
Registering your NNID on the New Nintendo 3DS system will make data transfer impossible.

2. Check the size of the SD card in your current Nintendo 3DS system.
If you are currently using an SD card with a capacity of over 4GB, your New Nintendo 3DS system may require a microSD card with larger capacity to accommodate all data. In order to take the microSD card out of the slot, push in first so it pops out. Pulling it out with force may result in damaging the microSD card slot.

A wireless internet connection is required and local wireless communication will be utilised to complete the data transfer.

Place both Nintendo 3DS systems close to each other and connect to the internet on both.

On both systems, select HOME Menu > Other Settings > System Update. This may take some time.

When both system updates are complete, HOME Menu > Other Settings > System Transfer; on both systems to begin the transfer.

Your NNID and Nintendo eShop history will be transferred via internet, and your save data and the SD card contents* can be transferred via the local wireless function. *As a guide, 4GB of data takes approximately 2 hours to transfer.

Please note: This is the most convenient way to perform a system transfer. However, if you have multiple SD cards you will need to transfer using a PC. System transfer using a PC is faster than the method mentioned above, but will require an SD card/microSD card reader as shown in the data transfer video.

If you have purchased the New Nintendo 3DS XL Monster Hunter 4 Special Edition console and transferred your data from your previous 3DS or 2DS console, you will be required to re-download your copy of Monster Hunter 4 from the Nintendo eShop once your system transfer is complete. You will be able to download it from the game page on the Nintendo eShop or from Settings > Redownloadable Software.
