Our First Week in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Much like every other Tom Nook fan, we’ve spent the last week in absolute paradise… creating our islands, paying off our never-ending debt and voyaging to different islands on the search for tarantulas. If you haven’t guessed, yes, we’re talking about Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

We’ve seen many gamers racking up to play time over 100 hours or more, and honestly, we are the same. After a busy day, many of us jump onto play, do the daily sweep of shaking the trees, avoiding bees, waking Blathers and talking to every single villager. It’s safe to say the new Animal Crossing game has captured the hearts of many of the gamers within GAME. We asked two of them to show us their greatest creations!

Bringing Pokémon into Animal Crossing

After being a huge fan of Animal Crossing: New Leaf, I couldn’t wait to play Animal Crossing: New Horizons! From the witty character lines, the customisations, to the continuous growth of facilities on the island, I’ve been hooked from the very beginning. Each day I find myself maintaining my island, speaking to my islanders and of course paying Tom Nook with all my bells. The game is incredibly immersive, lets me forget about the troubles of day-to-day life and enjoy going at my own pace – we even managed to throw an in-game birthday party for a friend!

One thing I didn’t expect to get so caught up in was designing new outfits and patterns. Every night before I stop playing the game, I attempt to create a piece of clothing with the inspiration from other favourite games. So far, I’ve made a Pikachu dress, Snorlax jumper and even some Hufflepuff robes! This game is a great creative outlet and I’m over the moon I picked it up.

Playing with friends is only half the fun

First off, I’m a complete newbie to Animal Crossing. I haven’t played any of the previous games but watching the Nintendo Direct revealing gameplay made me WANT the game. As clueless as I was when I first started, figuring out the controls was so easy and I was captivated by the game instantly.

Playing with friends in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is so incredibly easy. We threw an in-game birthday party with cake for everyone, visited the STUNNING museum and helped each other by exchanging DIY’s and gifts.

The game is wholesome with so many customization opportunities. I could bring my Town Centre to laugh with colourful flowers and even created my own Wonder of the World on my campsite for the travellers visiting my island!

What do you think? We’d love to see your creations, share your pictures and island creations with us on our Twitter channel @GAMEDigital.
