Animation Award

Your predicted winner is... Death Stranding with 36% of total votes.

Developed by Kojima Productions, Death Stranding received outstanding reviews when first released in 2019. The attention to detail throughout the game is impeccable. The way he steps over rocks cautiously, to the stealthy takedowns, all the animations are purposely made with weight and realism. Even the walking system feels intuitive and complex, with enough detail to keep you gripped to the game.

Your runners up are... Call of Duty: Modern Warfare with 19% and Luigi’s Mansion with 16% total votes.

Music Award

Your predicted winner is... The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening with 43% of total votes.

Music composer Ryo Nagamatsu approached the music for The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening in a different way to the Zelda games. Typically, they use big orchestras to create impactful soundtracks but that wouldn’t fit the simplistic visuals of this game. Instead, he kept it small by creating a single melody with one instrument to easily create a change in music, representing emotion and environmental change. It’s iconic Zelda music with an atmospheric charm.

Your runners up are... Death Stranding with 27% and Disco Elysium and Outer Wilds both had 10% of votes.

Narrative Award

Your predicted winner is... Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order with 38% of total votes.

The latest Star Wars game, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, has incredible cinematic storytelling following a young Padawan in the Order who is learning the tricks to become a Jedi. Instead of just giving characters a lightsabre, the writers really focused on creating a deep character-driven storyline. Their aim was to make players feel like they’re a training Jedi, and for them to become attached to Cal’s journey and how he grows as a person. The deep and detailed narrative perfectly complements the seamless combat battles that require strategic mastery rather than button spamming.

Your runners up are... Life Is Strange 2 (Episodes 2-5) with 19% and The Outer Worlds 18% of votes.

Multiplayer Award

Your predicted winner is... Call of Duty: Modern Warfare with 35% of total votes.

Activision and Infinity Ward took their annual game back to basics, and it paid off. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has gone above-and-beyond to deliver impressive visual and sound design to go along with the multiplayer modes, including Battle Royale. Since the game has been released, free content has been dropped and they’ve been making some incredible improvements which only enhances the fantastic game. Hats off to the Spec Ops mode and the new free-to-play Warzone Battle Royale mode, the multiplayer game is hard to stop playing once you’ve had a few games.

Your runners up are... Apex Legends with 21% and Borderlands 3 with 20% of votes.

Evolving Game Award

Your predicted winner is... No Man’s Sky: Beyond with 29% of total votes.

When No Man's Sky: Beyond was originally released, it looked very different. It was originally released in 2016, but it doesn’t mean the game developers stopped working on the game. Hello Games, the studio that developed and published the game, have released so many updates. From stability fixes to new story missions and even more to discover in-game, the game has evolved so much since it was first released.

Your runners up are... Fortnite with 26% and Destiny 2 with 18% of votes.

Game Beyond Entertainment Award

Your predicted winner is... Death Stranding with 41% of total votes.

Death Stranding isn’t just a game, it’s a big statement. Hideo Kojima created a much deeper meaning within an impactful game. He stated the main theme was to follow the importance of connecting with other people but being set in a post-apocalyptic world where internet connectivity and delivery optimization has essentially gone too far. Death Stranding makes players evaluate the current trends, how they’ve changed us and think about the cost of modern technology. The game goes beyond good and bad but instead relays a much deeper and powerful message.

Your runners up are... Life Is Strange 2 (Episodes 2-5) with 25% and Ring Fit Adventure 15% of votes.

Game Design Award

Your predicted winner is... Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice with 32% of total votes.

It’s not a secret that Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice is a simply stunning game. It presents an incredible view of Japan with gloomy colours brought to life with vibrant fires. It sets the scene, the tone and there is the whole world at players fingertips. The developers have presented fantastic detail, from books flying off the shelves when characters slam into them, crumbling walls of castles and vast backdrops.
