Titanfall wins big at E3 Critics Awards

It was good news for Respawn Entertainment this week, as its debut title Titanfall swept the board at the E3 2013 Game Critic Awards, winning all six prizes it was nominated for. That will certainly come as a relief to Respawn's Jason West and Vince Zampella, who left Call of Duty studio Infinity Ward to go it alone with Titanfall.

In total, Titanfall took home awards for Best of Show, Best Original Game, Best Console Game, Best PC Game, Best Action Game and Best Online Multiplayer.

Other winners included Ubisoft's Watch Dogs, dubbed Best Action Adventure Game; Media Molecule's charming PS Vita rip-em-up Tearaway, which took home Best Handheld Game; The Elder Scrolls Online won Best Role-Playing Game; NHL 14 was deemed Best Sports Game and Need for Speed: Rivals took home a gong for Best Racing Game.

Best Strategy Game went to Total War: Rome II, with Xbox One's Kinect-fuelled Disney game Fantasia: Music Evolved judged to be the Best Casual/Social Game. Virtual reality headset Oculus Rift, meanwhile, beat out competition from the next gen consoles to be crowned Best Hardware.

The awards were open to any gaming product that was on show at E3 back in June, and were voted on by 30 of the world's leading specialist gaming press outlets.
