The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim coming in 2011

Gamers are to be invited to re-enter the involving fantasy world of The Elder Scrolls with a brand new instalment next year.

Developer Bethesda Game Studios has revealed that it is working on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, a new edition of the smash-hit role playing series that is coming to Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in late 2011.

Skyrim is the hotly-anticipated follow-up to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which arrived on Xbox 360 and PC in 2006 and on PlayStation 3 in 2007, becoming one of the most acclaimed games of the current generation.

Although Bethesda was tight-lipped regarding full details on the sequel to the multiple game of the year award-winner, it promised that further information will emerge in the new year.

Todd Howard, Skyrim's director, said his team at Bethesda Game Studios have been working on the cutting-edge technology behind the title for "many years".

He added: "A new Elder Scrolls game has been a long time coming and we can't wait to show it off."
