One of PlayStation 3's most celebrated franchises is to make a grand return following the announcement of a new chapter in the globetrotting Uncharted saga.
Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception has been revealed by developer Naughty Dog and will see wisecracking treasure hunter Nathan Drake seeking out a lost city in the middle of the wild Arabian Desert.
The hotly-anticipated threequel will feature the same brand of cinematic storytelling, smart scripting and robust action for which the series is known, with improved combat mechanics and an overhauled multiplayer mode promised.
This time around, Drake will be able to grapple with multiple opponents via new melee moves, while the title will also be the first in the series to feature stereoscopic 3D graphics.
Uncharted has become one of gaming's biggest franchises in recent years, with Uncharted 2: Among Thieves having been recently voted as the best PlayStation game of all time by Official PlayStation Magazine readers.
A movie based on the games is also in the works from acclaimed director David O Russell, starring Mark Wahlberg as Drake.
