Mario Kart Wii top in Oz

Mario Kart Wii has confirmed its position as one of the most popular computer games world wide by taking pole position on the Australian charts.

According to data trackers GfK Australia, Mario Kart Wii has regained its position at the head of the Australian chart, ending the two-week stint of Wii Fit.

And the game is also popular in England, as it remained top for the second week of the UK's ChartTrack All Formats Top 40, ahead of Wii Fit.

The Nintendo Wii exercise game has managed to cling on to second place in the Australian chart, with Wii Play maintaining last week's position in third.

Further down the chart Super Smash Bros. Brawl climbed up one place into fourth and SingStar Amped also rising one place to move into fifth.

The rest of the top ten is made up of Beijing 2008 on the PlayStation 3, Dr Kawashima's Brain Training, Mario & Sonic on the Nintendo DS, Mario & Sonic on the Nintendo Wii and Beijing 2008 on the Xbox 360.
