Publisher Del Rey has revealed that it is to publish a new book called Deus Ex: The Human Effect in 2011, from well-established science-fiction author James Swallow.

The book's twisting narrative will reintroduce fans to the futuristic world of Deus Ex and follows a government agent and a special-ops soldier as they unravel a potentially world-threatening conspiracy.

Andre Vu, marketing game manager for the Deus Ex series, said: "There will be characters and story elements in it that will overlap with our next videogame Deus Ex: Human Revolution, which we hope fans will be very excited about."

Deus Ex: Human Revolution was recently unveiled at the E3 trade show and wowed the assembled games industry representatives, garnering more than 25 award nominations.

The high-tech shooter for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 tells the story of security specialist Adam Jensen as he uncovers a plot by mysterious forces to take control of the evolution of the human race.
