Lego Harry Potter conjures up chart-topping success

The world's most famous boy wizard has cast a spell over UK gamers yet again after Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 winged its way to the top of the all-formats sales chart.

TT Games' latest brick-based take on a popular franchise has proven one of the most popular yet, deposing long-time champ Red Dead Redemption from the top of the charts after five weeks.

Lego Harry Potter retells the story of Harry, Ron and Hermione's first four years at Hogwarts through the medium of Lego, allowing players to take control of more than 160 characters from the books and movies.

Another new title which proved popular this week was the blackly comedic action game Naughty Bear, the story of a nasty teddy wreaking a malicious revenge on his bear friends, which came in fifth place.

Meanwhile, eighth spot went to Optimus Prime and co with Transformers: War for Cybertron, the newest adventure of the robots in disguise.

Next week's chart will see the return of one of sports gaming's most popular franchises with the launch of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii.
