Developer Codemasters has promised that the PC edition of the off-road racing title is the best-looking yet, as it incorporates DirectX 11 graphical technology.
This means that the game's muddy, wild environments will look more realistic than ever, with more convincing shadows, crowd animations, water effects and an enhanced three-dimension look.
These features come in addition to the range of modes and options offered by the console versions, including more than 100 events and races set in real-world locations ranging from Malaysia to Los Angeles.
Codemasters expressed confidence that Colin McRae: DiRT 2 on PC will offer "the most exciting and visceral racing experience yet".
The game has also been available on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, DS and PSP since September 2009.
