Colin McRae: DiRT 2 given September street date

Codemasters has announced that the newest instalment in its acclaimed Colin McRae racing series will be hitting UK stores in September.

Colin McRae: DiRT 2 will build on the foundations established by the first Colin McRae: DiRT and take players on a high-speed world racing tour, competing on authentic tracks in locales as diverse as London, Los Angeles and Malaysia.

The game also promises more than 100 different events and challenges, full head-to-head online competitions and a roster of famous racing personalities including Ken Block, Travis Pastrana and Dave Mirra.

Codemasters will be releasing the new title for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii, Nintendo DS and PSP, with an enhanced PC version with DirectX 11 functionality to follow at a later date.

Racing fans will be eagerly anticipating this latest entry in the Colin McRae franchise, with critics lauding the first Colin McRae: DiRT for its authentic graphics and racing physics and fun, accessible gameplay.
