Gears of War franchise is a 'ten-year plan'

Fans of the Gears of War franchise may be buoyed by the comments of the writer of Gears of War 2 writer Joshua Ortega, who stated that the franchise could be around for the long haul.

Speaking at the New York Comic-Con, Ortega insisted that the franchise has the capabilities to continue churning out games for the next ten years.

According to IGN, he said: "You will not be disappointed in the next ten years.

"It's a ten-year plan. Gears is long term. The lancer is the new lightsaber."

When questioned about whether there was likely to be any more downloadable content available for Gears of War 2 fans, Ortega responded: "Keep watching... You won't be disappointed."

Gears of War 2 is a tactical third-person shooter developed by Epic Games and published by Microsoft for the Xbox 360.

A review of the title by Metacritic stated that compared to its predecessor "every major aspect of the game has been refined to create heightened, more immersive experiences".
