The next title in the Mortal Kombat series is already in development, it has been confirmed.
Following the success of Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe, Midway has stated that it is already hard at work on the next edition.
Last year's title proved reasonably successful on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with over 1.8 million copies of the title shipped to gamers worldwide.
Ed Boon, Mortal Kombat co-founder and creative director, said: "Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe was the result of countless hours of hard work by many people, and seeing the game surpass the million-seller plateau makes it worth all the effort.
"We're already hard at work on our next version of Mortal Kombat, and look forward to being able to reveal more details in the future."
On the original version of the crossover fighting game, gamers had the choice of playing as familiar characters including the likes of Raiden and Scorpion from Mortal Kombat and Batman and Lex Luthor from the DC Universe.
