Telegraph crown Fable 2 as year's best

Fable 2 has been unearthed as the best computer game of 2008 by the Daily Telegraph.

The newspaper has published an extensive list of the top 50 games of the year, with the Xbox 360-exclusive crowned top of the pile, just ahead of the Bethesda title Fallout 3.

One of the reasons the game scooped the award was due to the "terrific combat", which was "smartly tactical" and the charm of the magical world of Albion, where the title is set.

A reason for Fallout 3 featuring so highly was stated as being due to the title's "moral strength" and the fact that it is "endlessly replayable".

As well as taking top spot, Microsoft also made the top ten with Gears of War 2, while Little Big Planet completed the top three.

Other titles to feature prominently in the list include Spore at six and Grand Theft Auto IV at seven.

Fable 2 was developed by Lionhead Studios and includes a character called Reaver, who is voiced by Stephen Fry.
