Fable 2 hits top of charts

Spending three days in the market has not proved to be a hindrance for Fable 2, as the title has still made it to the top of the UK's ChartTrack All Formats Top 40.

Microsoft's Xbox 360-exclusive hit has beaten off the challenge of fellow chart newcomer Far Cry 2 to reach the head of the chart with the Ubisoft game having to settle for second spot.

Last week's top game Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 has fallen to fourth after a 58 per cent sales slump, with rival football game FIFA 09 from EA sealing third, despite being available to gamers for longer.

However, EA may not be so impressed with sales of debuting title Dead Space, which has only made sixth spot in the chart despite a release in Halloween week expected to boost sales further.

Saint's Row 2 completed the top five, with Lego Batman at seven, Wii Fit in eighth, Mario Kart Wii at nine and Midnight Club: Los Angeles only managing to complete the top ten in its first week despite a strong television advertising campaign.

A review of Fable 2 by the Edge stated that the title starts gradually before becoming "irresistible".
