World of Warcraft creator not worried about MMO crown

The CEO of Blizzard, Mike Morhaime, developer of massively multiplayer online (MMO) game World of Warcraft has said that he is not worried about another company taking over the lead with the platform.

Speaking to at a press conference, he said that the games quality is more important for console success.

He said: "I think that it comes down to games, so I'm not to worried about being first to make a claim of first to take a market share.

"For us we're looking for what is the next thing, what is the next step, what is the next evolution and I think that it's not really dependent on platform."

He said that Blizzard was not bound to any platform and said that the company's decision to merge with Activision meant Blizzard could move into consoles whenever it wanted to.

"Activision will have a strong business on consoles so whenever Blizzard decides to go and enter the console market we have this huge infrastructure of people that is already successful," he added.

Activision plans to release some big name games in the coming months, including Quantum of Solace.
