Watch Dogs is the fastest selling Ubisoft game ever

Watch Dogs sales record

Ubisoft is certainly happy with the performance of the long awaited cyberpunk sandbox thriller Watch Dogs which went on sale this week. In just 24 hours it's become the fastest selling game in the publisher's history, and when you consider that the French company has been around since 1986, that's no mean feat.

“I once said that the buzz around Watch Dogs was driven by the incredible passion of our early fans,” said Creative Director Jonathan Morin in a statement posted on the official website. “Today we broke the record for the biggest first day sales in Ubisoft history. I can never say it enough: thank you everyone! We love you all for your passion and your creativity.”

Ubisoft's co-founder and CEO Yves Guillemot was also a happy bunny. “Watch Dogs is an amazing achievement and our teams should be proud that the creativity, innovation and long hours they invested in making this game are paying off,” he said. “It’s great to see so many customers enjoy playing the game, and it shows that Watch Dogs has cracked the code for developing a new blockbuster IP and a thoroughly new-gen experience.”

Watch Dogs has been well received by the press too, with high marks from Polygon, IGN, Edge and more. It's out now for PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC. A Wii U version is also in the pipeline.
