Bruce Lee is your pre-order bonus for EA Sports UFC

EA Sports picked up the UFC license last year, and we're now only a few weeks away from seeing what the publisher behind FIFA and Madden has done with the franchise. The game will certainly land with force, as they've revealed that the game's pre-order bonus will be none other than a downloadable and playable version of martial arts master Bruce Lee.

"This does not just look like Bruce Lee. It is Bruce Lee," says art director Ian Lloyd. "The way he carries himself, his fighting stance, his rippling physique, devastating speed, signature strikes and accompanying yells, whoops and shrieks. We have summoned this pinnacle of human strength, speed and spirit into our world and it has truly been an honour and a career highlight for us to do so."

Purists may balk at the idea of the famously pacifist Lee being used in such an aggressive and competitive game, but the idea of mixed martial arts can be traced back to his invention of Jeet Kune Do, which he devised by combining elements of several fighting styles. And in case fans still have doubts, Lee's daughter, Shannon Lee, has been advising on the use of her father's image and has endorsed the end result. "This is an opportunity to take play and entertainment, and this 'what if?' martial arts fantasy, and combine the two of them," she said in a video blog. "It's awesome."

EA Sports UFC is out on June 17th for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
