Ultra Street Fighter IV getting online training and 3 vs 3 battles

Capcom has revealed yet more features which will be added to Ultra Street Fighter IV when it launches next summer.

Top of the list is an expanded training mode which will allow players to spar together online. Currently, in Super Street Fighter IV, you can only train against the CPU or a local player. Capcom hopes that by allowing more freedom to train with others, it will encourage players to share their expertise and ask for advice following competitive bouts.

Also new will be Team Battle Mode, which pits two teams of three players against each other. Characters will only have one life bar across multiple rounds, though this can be topped up slightly if you win.

It all adds up to a pretty major update for the series. Ultra Street Fighter IV already rebalances the gameplay from Super Street Fighter IV and introduces new combat mechanics such as Red Focus attacks and Ultra Combo Doubles. There will also be five new characters added to the roster, raising the character count to 44, and six new arena stages.

If you already own the console version of Super Street Fighter IV or Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition you'll be able to upgrade to the Ultra version of the game via a £10.99 download in June. August brings the update to PC, as well as a budget-priced standalone retail edition for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
