World of Warcraft: Warriors of Draenor expansion detailed

The realm of Azeroth is about to get bigger once again, as the latest expansion for World of Warcraft has been announced.

Long-time fans of the series will already have a hint as to what's in store thanks to the name: Warriors of Draenor takes players to the homeworld of the orcs and draenei, as it was before it was reduced to the desolate Outland. You'll tackle the Frostwolf clan in Frostfire Ridge, and also venture into Shadowmoon Valley, location of the draenei holy temple of Karabor.

To help players get started in such hostile territory, you'll be able to build your own garrison there. This home away from home will be fully customisable, and will house NPCs you encounter on your travels. Rescue a miner, for example, and he'll set up shop in your garrison and help with supplies. Friends will be able to visit, of course, and trade with you.

The expansion also raises the level cap to a nice round 100, but low level players won't have to worry about being left behind. The expansion also allows you to instantly upgrade one of your characters to level 90, so they're ready to start exploring Draenor without getting clobbered. For each level you reach above 90, your character will be granted a major permanent boost to one of their abilities. There's a new talent tier waiting at level 100 as well, unlocking three new abilities per class.

The game will also receive a visual makeover, with all playable races having their character models and animations revamped to keep them up to date. "We know that many of you already strongly identify with the look of your current character, so we're dedicating a lot of time and resources to make sure these updates capture each race's iconic identity and personality," says Blizzard, in a warm reassuring voice.
