Final Fantasy XIV final beta and early access revealed

Square's MMO Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn comes out on August 27th for both PC and PlayStation 3, but if you want to get your hands on it earlier there are several ways to do so. There will be a final beta test of the game from August 17th to August 19th, on both PC and PS3, while anybody who has preordered the game will be given early access from August 24th.

The game originally launched in 2010, but was taken offline in 2012 after Square decided it wasn't up to scratch. Though the game will relaunch with the same story and world, it's otherwise been almost completely rewritten by an entirely new development team, with a fresh game engine. Hence the title A Realm Reborn, you see.

Anyone who subscribed to the game's original incarnation will be given free access to the relaunched version until September 9th. All copies also come with a month's free subscription, after which it costs £7.69 per month. There will be additional bonuses available depending on which subscription package you buy: 30 days, 60 days or 90 days.

After release, Square will also release a free companion app for iPhone and iPad, called Final Fantasy XIV: Libra Eorzea.

Once again, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will be released on August 27th for PC and PlayStation 3.
