Far Cry 4 is 'cooking' says Ubisoft

After the runaway success of Far Cry 3, another entry in the openworld shooter series was always likely, but now Ubisoft has given its strongest hint yet that work on Far Cry 4 is underway.

"We haven't announced anything yet," Ubisoft Europe boss Alain Corre told Eurogamer when asked if the publisher's current plans include another Far Cry. "We're thinking of the future of this brand... It's cooking. Something is cooking!"

The interview also touched on two other Ubisoft properties that have gone a bit quiet in recent years. On the topic of Prince of Persia, unseen on consoles since 2010, Corre continued his kitchen analogy: "It will happen when we feel it is ready, when the creators have brought something interesting. That's the case for all our franchises. They're cooking. Some are cooking longer than others, but they're cooking."

As for Beyond Good and Evil 2, which has now been in the oven rather a long time, this too is on its way, slowly but surely. "There are some works on it," Corre confirmed "There are some iterations on it. Now, some games are taking longer to be done, depending also on the creativity the creator can bring. You see the level of quality of the games today is very high. It takes time to find the right angle and message. It will happen when it will be perfect."

The creator in question is, of course, Michel Ancel, who has been busy the past few years on the excellent Rayman Origins and the upcoming Rayman Legends.
