Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag crossover bonus content planned

Ubisoft has heaved open its treasure chest and given us landlubbers our first tantalising glimpse at the additional content that will be exclusive to the PlayStation version of upcoming pirate yarn, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag.

The bonus material will take the form of three new gameplay chapters, featuring Aveline de Grandpré, the female star of PlayStation Vita spin-off, Assassin's Creed: Liberation. It will be interesting to see how Ubisoft plans to insert her into the timeline, given that Liberation takes place in 1765 while Black Flag is set in the Golden Age of piracy which came to an end some thirty years earlier in the 1730s.

This isn't the first time that PlayStation owners have enjoyed more Creed for their money. Assassin's Creed III boasted an exclusive PS3 storyline based around Benedict Arnold, while Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood included extra missions featuring Copernicus.

The good news for Xbox, Wii U and PC players is that there'll still be plenty to do in Black Flag. As well as exploring three major Caribbean strongholds and numerous islands, you'll be able to upgrade your ship, the Jackdaw, engage in acts of plunder and even go whaling.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag is out on November 1st for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U and PC. Next gen versions for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will follow.
