Gran Turismo documentary now free online

If you're a fan of Sony's Gran Turismo series, you'll want to check this out. A documentary film about the series, and its creator Kazunori Yamauchi, is now available for free on the internet. KAZ: Pushing the Virtual Divide debuted on US streaming service Hulu last week, but is now legally available via YouTube, Vimeo and ReelHouse too.

The 84 minute film follows Yamauchi's fight to get the Gran Turismo series off the ground – he started development in 1992 with a team of just seven people – and also his obsession with cars. Yamauchi, of course, doesn't just make games about motor racing; he's a professional racing driver in real life too.

Also featured in the film is Jann Mardenborough, the 23-year-old driver who got his big break into professional motorsports thanks to the Gran Turismo Academy, which helps skilled players transfer their in-game skills to real races.

Gran Turismo celebrated its 15th anniversary last year with the release of Gran Turismo 6 for PlayStation 3. Yamauchi has confirmed in interviews that a seventh game, for PlayStation 4, is in development.
