If you were looking forward to a sequel for Hideo Kojima's classic Zone of the Enders, we've got some bad news for you today. The legendary Japanese developer and mastermind behind the Metal Gear series announced via his radio show that the project has been abandoned, and the development team disbanded.
The move follows no small amount of disappointment felt by many fans with the modern-day remake, Zone of the Enders HD Collection. To its credit, the team has been working to overhaul the game and improve its performance, with a patch expected to hit the PlayStation 3 format in the near future. The experience has clearly left Kojima asking questions of the series however.
Fortunately, one of those questions was aimed directly at the playerbase, with Kojima stating his intention to re-evaluate the future of the series, and asking again if a sequel was something the listeners would be interested in playing. It's a yes from us if he's still listening...
