The Elder Scrolls Online has an A-list voice cast

Bethesda has revealed that The Elder Scrolls Online, if anything, has an even more impressive cast than previous games

Bethesda has revealed that while The Elder Scrolls Online may be a massively multiplayer variation on the popular RPG series, that doesn't mean it will be skimping on the voice talent. Previous Elder Scrolls games have boasted stars such as Sean Bean and Patrick Stewart (Oblivion) and Max Von Sydow and Christopher Plummer (Skyrim).

Elder Scrolls Online, if anything, has an even more impressive cast. British acting legend and national treasure Bill Nighy (Pirates of the Caribbean, Shaun of the Dead) joins Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2, Raiders of the Lost Ark), Michael Gambon (Harry Potter), Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange) and John Cleese (Monty Python, Fawlty Towers). Kate Beckinsale (Underworld, Total Recall) and Jennifer Hale (Mass Effect) will also voice characters.

Bethesda has also offered hints as to who these actors will be voicing. Nighy plays a merchant prince, while Molina is a politically-minded mage. Beckinsale is Queen Ayrenn of the Aldmeri Dominion, one of the factions that players can align themselves with.

It's Gambon and McDowell who you'll be hearing the most from, however. As the mysterious blind Prophet, Gambon's warm buttery tones will be guiding you through the game, much as Dumbledore mentored Harry. McDowell, meanwhile, voices Molag Bal, the Daedric God whose evil schemes you'll be trying to stop.

TV's Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter, will reprise her role as Azura, the Daedric Princess of Dusk and Dawn. That's not such a surprise: her husband is the CEO of ZeniMax Media, Bethesda's parent company.

The Elder Scrolls Online is out for PC on April 4th. A PlayStation 4 and Xbox One version will follow in June.
