The Crew release date slips to December

Ubisoft's upcoming openworld racer, The Crew, has slipped back slightly. The game had been set for release on 11 November, but will now hit the road on 2 December instead.

“We received a lot of valuable information from the recent PC and console betas,” said Creative Director Julian Gerighty in a post on the Ubisoft blog. “We are now scrutinizing all of the player feedback so we can ensure that The Crew delivers the seamless open-world experience that meets everyone’s high expectations.”

The delay will not only allow additional server tweaks and gameplay enhancements, such as a HUD-free view for drinking in the scenery as you race across America, but will also mean there's time for another console beta trial. This will kick off in November, so if you missed the previous preview builds, keep your eyes peeled for this one.

The Crew offers a completely open North American continent to explore in your car, and it reportedly takes 90 minutes to drive across in real time. There's a single player campaign that sees you infiltrating criminal car gangs, and a host of multiplayer options enabled by the game's persistent and shared online world. Ubisoft has described it more as a car-based RPG – or CarPG – than a straight up racer.

Once again, The Crew will now release on 2 December for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PC.
