Star Wars: The Old Republic to hold free trial

PC gamers are to be given a chance to try out EA and BioWare's hit MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic over the coming weekend.

The special Weekend Pass Free Trial begins on March 15th 2012 and runs through to the end of March 19th, giving players who do not have an Old Republic account to sample the experience free of charge for four days.

Fans will be able to create characters in one of eight classes and explore their planet of origin, take part in quests or maybe even get a chance to visit their faction's capital world.

Launched in December 2011, more than two million copies of Star Wars: The Old Republic have been sold so far, with critics lining up to praise the game for its revolutionary approach to the MMO genre.

The Old Republic allows players to embark on character-driven adventures, with all dialogue fully voice-acted by a huge cast.

It also offers a vast, immersive recreation of the Star Wars universe thousands of years before the events of the movies, with players choosing to become heroes or villains.
