Entertaining game fans since 1991, Sonic the hedgehog has been a staple on the shelves of homes throughout the country. SEGA has created over 50 games starring the spiky blue hero and has now released Sonic Forces, a game with incredible visuals for the brilliant Nintendo Switch.
SEGA has been developing Forces since 2013 and it was originally revealed to the public in June 2016, showcasing a range of great new features to make it one of the most comprehensive Sonic games ever.As well as utilising the 3D platforming style that he series has feature over the last few years, Sonic Forces sees the return of a more traditional side-scrolling style of gaming that an older fanbase will appreciate.
One new feature that is sure to get fans whipped into a frenzy is the long-awaited addition of custom characters, coming to the series for the very first time. Players are able to create avatars from a pre-set selection of parameters. If gamers want to design a hedgehog like our prickly hero, or perhaps a dog or even a cat, they’re able to do so. With custom avatars, gamers can pick the weapons, the species and even the colour of their chosen protagonist.
Sonic Forces also lets players view a post-apocalyptic world that has been destroyed by Dr. Eggman. Gamers run through a series of ruined landscapes as the modern iteration of Sonic while also being able to play through sections of the game as Classic 90s Sonic.
When it comes to the antagonists, SEGA hasn’t held back. As well as the iconic Dr. Eggman, the game also sees the return of Zavok, Metal Sonic and Chaos as well as an enemy that will provide our spiky hero with his biggest battle ever. But we’re not going to spoil that for you here.
