This amazing Funko POP! Vinyl celebrates one of the first Marvel superhero, appearing first some 80 years ago in Marvel Comics #1 in 1939!
You might know the Human Torch as Johnny Storm, but did you know that in his original appearance, the one Funko have recreated here, the Human Torch is actually know as Jim Hammond, and he's an android? He was created in a lab in Brooklyn, had sentience, and after a few initial accidental fires, he vowed to help humanity. He was also one of the first enemies of Namor the submariner, also produced in this series! However, Namor and him joined forces with Captain America & the Invaders to fight Nazis during World War II.
The name and abilities were later re-purposed by Stan Lee & Jack Kirby with great success. Nice to see the character has evolved and developed over the years!
