Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare gets new release date

Garden Warfare, the Plants vs Zombies third-person shooter, has been given a revised launch date by publisher EA

Garden Warfare, the Plants vs Zombies third-person shooter, has been given a revised launch date by publisher EA. It had been due to release on Xbox 360 and Xbox One on February 21st, but will now come out the following week, on the 27th.

The game is based on Popcap's beloved and hugely popular series of tower defence games, but switches top-down strategy gameplay for a more urgent and exciting shooter experience. You'll be able to pick a side and venture into 12 vs 12 multiplayer battles across 10 maps, each of which has been created using Battlefield 4's Frostbite 3 engine. All the weapons, abilities and characters from the Plants vs Zombies games will be represented in some form or another.

As well as competitive multiplayer, there's a four player co-op mode called Garden Ops. The Xbox One version also includes local co-operative split screen play and the exclusive Boss Mode, in which an additional player can help out using Kinect or the SmartGlass app.

The game is exclusive to Xbox platforms, but a PC version will sprout later this year.
