No season pass for Insomniac's Fuse

Insomniac, the studio behind such hits as Ratchet & Clank and Resistance, has added a new FAQ to its website for upcoming co-op shooter, Fuse.

The four-player game will be playable online, obviously, but there won't be any season pass or other single-use code to restrict online play. Nor will the game have any microtransactions where you can spend real money to boost your way through the game, despite publisher Electronic Arts being rather keen on such things.

"Online pass?" reads one question. "Nope," is Insomniac's reply. "But, you should still buy it new to support us because there are no microtransactions to make up for it, though."

The FAQ also reveals that while the game is designed to be played with four people, you'll be able to enjoy it solo, as well as in split-screen with a friend. Split-screen and online can also be combined, so you and a buddy on the sofa can team up with friends online.

The game is a tactical third-person shooter with weapons powered by unique alien "Fuse" technology. This means, for example, you'll be able to freeze or melt enemies, and even combine powers for heightened effect.

Fuse is out for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on May 31st.
