New Pac-Man animated series coming to TV in 2013

Videogame icon Pac-Man is set to star in his own TV show in 2013, thanks to a new deal between Namco Bandai, Arad Productions and 41 Entertainment.

Pac-Man: The Adventure Begins is set to premiere on Disney XD in the US next autumn and will be an action comedy series starring the rotund yellow hero and a group of new friends.

Animated in stereoscopic 3D, the show is being produced by Hollywood supremo Avi Arad - known for his work on the Spider-Man and Iron Man movies - as well as Rick Ungar, of X-Men: Evolution and Biker Mice from Mars fame.

Arad said: "Pac-Man is one of the world's greatest icons. He is funny and adventurous and will bring his tone and abilities to this beautifully executed animated series."

The Power Pill-guzzling hero has appeared in animation once before, with a Hanna-Barbera-produced Pac-Man show airing briefly during the 1980s.

However, he has remained a regular gaming fixture for years in titles such as Pac-Man Party and Pac-Man World 3, while he will also be making a guest appearance in the PlayStation 3 and PS Vita editions of Street Fighter X Tekken.
