Metro: Last Light gets new release date

Stark sci-fi shooter sequel Metro: Last Light has been given a fresh release date by new publisher Deep Silver. The game is a follow up to the acclaimed 2010 game based on the post apocalyptic novel by Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky.

The fate of the sequel, once again developed by Ukrainian studio 4A Games, was up in the air when original publisher THQ collapsed in December. Deep Silver, best known for cult hit Dead Island, picked up the series from the ashes and will now bring it to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC on 17th May.

The announcement was made by Dr. Klemens Kundratitz, head of Koch Media, the games distributor which owns Deep Silver. "The new release date is the ideal way to strike the balance between bringing the best out of Metro: Last Light and not keep the fans waiting longer than necessary," he said. "We won't leave that time unexploited and will work closely together with 4A Games to make the game even better. It will receive all the attention it deserves."

Now that it owns the Metro franchise, along with Saints Row, the German publisher plans to do a lot more. "We would like to thank all of the Metro fans for their patience," added Kundratitz. "We can assure them that we have a lot more coming their way with the franchise."
