In one of the most surprising turnarounds in modern gaming history, Microsoft has backtracked on its well publicised plans to restrict second hand sales of Xbox One games and place tight limits on how game discs can be shared.
"Since unveiling our plans for Xbox One, my team and I have heard directly from many of you, read your comments and listened to your feedback," Microsoft's Don Mattrick posted on the official Xbox website. "You told us how much you loved the flexibility you have today with games delivered on disc. The ability to lend, share, and resell these games at your discretion is of incredible importance to you. Also important to you is the freedom to play offline, for any length of time, anywhere in the world."
The result is that the Xbox One's online requirement, which would have required the console to check in with Microsoft servers once every 24 hours to remain functional, has now been abolished. Gone too are the limitations on game discs, sharing and reselling. You'll be able to trade in Xbox One games, lend them to your mates, just as you can now.
Xbox One will be released this November.
