Zelda Majora's Mask for Nintendo 3DS

Nintendo has announced that one of the strangest titles in the Legend of Zelda series will be getting the 3DS remake treatment. Originally released for the Nintendo 64 back in 2000, the game finds Link reliving the same three days over and over, as he quests to prevent a giant scowling moon from destroying the world.

The remake doesn't come as a complete surprise, since Nintendo has been hinting at the project for several years. “There’s also the possibility of doing a remake of Majora’s Mask,” Zelda co-creator and all-round Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto said back in 2012. “This is something we’ve certainly been talking about and doing a little bit of experimenting with, to figure out which way we’re going to go.”

One year later, in 2013, current Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma also hinted at the project. “I see many of you have been asking about a remake of Majora’s Mask for Nintendo 3DS,” he said. “It’s nice to see such a strong response to this title and we haven’t forgotten about Link’s adventures in that world.”

The 3DS version of Majora's Mask is expected in late Spring 2015, which will mark the game's 15th anniversary. A special edition version will also become available, and will come encased in a stylish steelbook cover with a silver badge of Majora's Mask and a double sided poster for good measure.
