Nintendo has released another of its Nintendo Direct video blogs, and there are some juicy announcements contained within.

Top of the list is the reveal of Hyrule Warriors, a collaboration between Nintendo and Tecmo Koei. The game takes the beloved Legend of Zelda saga and mashes it up with the long-running melee combat strategy series Samurai Warriors. As with those games, there will be hundreds of enemies on-screen at a time, and as Link you'll be able to slash your way through them as you move around an open plan battlefield. Nintendo has confirmed that Hyrule Warriors isn't part of the main Zelda series, but is instead a unique spin-off.

The other big news was a release date for Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. The Wii U exclusive will hit the shops on 21st February, and will continue the wonderful platforming series originally started by Rare back on the SNES. It'll contain six islands worth of levels and features Cranky Kong as a playable character. There's also a new co-op power-up called POW, which transforms every on-screen enemy into a collectable item.

Other announcements included Yoshi's New Island, coming to the 3DS in the Spring, and NES Remix, a mini-game compilation inspired by Nintendo's 8-bit classics. That one's out already on the Nintendo eShop.
