Destiny Multiplayer from GAME.

We’ve dipped into solo play and had a taste of multiplayer within the Destiny world, now it’s time to introduce what a Fireteam is and explore more of The Tower.

A Fireteam consists of three Guardians. That’s you, and up to two other friends or randomly selected people who can join your game. Upon entering the world in your newly appointed Fireteam, you’ll be dropped into a mission, similar to the story arc in solo experience. It is then up to you to forge together to successfully achieve your goal.

Although Destiny defines itself as a shared world shooter, it’s worth noting that although Bungie’s matchmaking system will seamlessly connect players to other random players throughout the game, it is not mandatory to stay with your new found friends. From solo experience, to insane Strikes to Fireteam match-ups, you’ll always migrate back to The Tower.

Destiny Multiplayer from GAME.

The Tower is the Guardian’s hub, and here you’ll be able to seamlessly roam around connecting to other players. You’ll enter a third person perspective allowing you to see your Guardian. When in The Tower it feels like the entire feel of the game changes, you’re no longer running around guns blazing but partaking in civilised walking. You’ll explore, meeting weapon and armour traders for specific class disciplines. If purchased you’ll immediately be encouraged to swap your kit out and check the stats on existing weaponry and armour.

How much armour your Guardian will have is dependant on your class choice. Naturally, a Hunter possesses more of a scavenged look, a scholarly Warlock would be found in trench coats and your Titan clad in sturdy plates.

The Fireteam and The Tower add two crucial components within the Destiny universe. They both define the term of share world shooter. From dropping into our friend’s game to complete a shared mission, to meeting up for a dance in The Tower with fellow Destiny fans. Destiny comes in a package, dependant on what type of player you are you may opt for solo play first, or delve deep into multiplayer. Whatever your preference is, there’s something here for everyone.
