Final Fantasy fans may want to make plans to hibernate through the winter and emerge, blinking, in spring 2015. That's when all the action will be happening, as Square Enix has revealed a couple of major announcements at the Tokyo Game Show.

The first big dollop of news is that action role-player Final Fantasy Type-0 will arrive in March next year. The game is an HD remake of the popular PSP game for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. That's less than a year after it was first revealed at E3 earlier in 2014. 20 March is the European date that Square Enix has confirmed.

That launch will also come with your first taste of Final Fantasy 15, as Type-0 will include a download code for a playable demo of the long awaited RPG sequel that has been in development in various forms for eight years. The demo is subtitled “Episode Duscae” and according to the publisher “includes elements from the opening sections of the full game, but alters story progression and more to create a unique first-play experience”.

And, in one last bit of news, the company has also confirmed that Hajime Tabata, director of Type-0, is also now the director of Final Fantasy 15. That's because the original director and Final Fantasy veteran, Tetsuya Nomura, is now working full time on the even more eagerly anticipated Kingdom Hearts 3.
