There's a new FIFA game on the way. Yes, obviously, there's a new FIFA game on the way – it's an annual series, after all – but there's another new FIFA game as well, and it'll be here sooner than you think.

EA Sports 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil is the chunky title of the game, and it's the official game of the world's biggest footy tournament. It boasts 203 national teams, 7,469 players, 19 officially licensed managers and 21 new stadiums including all the World Cup stadiums from Brazil.

Don't go thinking it'll just be FIFA 14 with a lick of paint either. EA Sports is including new gameplay features with exciting capitalised names too. Explosive Movement allows players to change speed and direction quickly, both on and off the ball. World Class Control allows for responsive dribbling and more accurate passing. There's even Live City events, which will cut away to the home turf of a scoring team to see the celebrations.

There are also two tournament modes. Road to the FIFA World Cup has you guiding players through the qualifying matches to the group stages, and is apparently the “most immersive tournament mode from any EA SPORTS title”. That mode also comes with 50 hours of specially recorded radio updates. Then there's Road to Rio de Janeiro, a tournament mode dedicated to Brazilian players.

EA Sports 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil kicks off on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on April 17.
