Worker Pieces: Each player has a set of Worker pieces. Locations, events, and Destination cards are all used to position these on the board. Workers acquire resources, draw cards, and perform other specific activities in order to further the growth of a player's tableau.
Take a Chance: Each player is responsible for constructing and populating a city, which is comprised of up to 15 Construction and Critter cards. Travelers, Production, Destination, Governance, and Prosperity are the five types of cards. Cards are used to generate resources (twigs, resin, pebbles, and berries), grant abilities, and score points. The card interactions show a plethora of methods and an almost limitless diversity of operating cities.
Prepare for the next season: Workers are restored to the players' supply, and new workers are added in preparation for the next season. The game lasts from the end of one winter to the beginning of the next, at which point the player with the most points wins.
