Bethesda Softworks has posted a lengthy blog post, updating players on the current state of The Elder Scrolls Online and its journey from PC to console.

“We have been (and will continue to be) steadily working on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions of ESO,” says game director Matt Firor on the official blog. “They are playable and fun right now, but there's still some work to do before we can set an official launch date.”

A large part of that work is implementing the new Champion and Justice systems in the PC version of the game, so that they can be built into the console game from the start. The Champion content adds all sorts of content for players who have passed the Level 50 cap, while the Justice system brings in the ability to steal and pickpocket. Most excitingly, players will be able to play both sides of the law – patrolling cities as Enforcers and punishing other players they catch red-handed.

“First and foremost, we want to make sure that two of our most important systems still in development—the Justice and Champion Systems—are included in the console release,” says Firor. “Those two systems will introduce a huge amount of content to the game, and we know everyone is looking forward to the new types of gameplay they provide.”

He also mentions that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game won't just be ports of the PC release. The controls and interface have been completely overhauled for joypad play, and voice chat and integration with Xbox Live and PlayStation Network has been included.
