Cult JRPG The Witch and the Hundred Knights coming to UK

Developer Nippon Ichi, best known for the oddball action RPG series Disgaea, has confirmed that its latest title, The Witch and the Hundred Knights, will be coming to western shores in 2014.

The game follows a beautiful witch - rather fantastically named Metallica in the Japanese version - who is cursed by her ugly forest-dwelling rival to never leave her swamp home. Being a crafty sort, she comes up with a clever loophole - by constantly expanding the boundaries of the swamp, her imprisonment becomes less and less restrictive. To help her in this cunning quest, she recruits the Hundred Knights, a century-strong band of warriors who can be called upon in battle.

It's an open world RPG, played from a top-down perspective, with gameplay divided up into replayable stages. It skews towards action, with hack and slash combat, but you'll be able to level up and undertake side quests, along with various other role-playing trimmings. There are also button-mashing mini games in which you eat enemies, so clearly Nippon Ichi's goofy sense of humour hasn't diminished.

The game is exclusive to PlayStation 3 and will launch in the UK on March 21st.
