Amazing Spider-Man: Ultimate Edition swinging onto Wii U

Spidey will be swinging onto the Wii U, Activision has announced, in the shape of an Ultimate Edition of last year's Amazing Spider-Man blockbuster spin-off.

As before, the game picks up after the events of the movie and finds you clad in the iconic red and blue suit, swinging through a gorgeously recreated virtual New York on the trail of the villainous Lizard and a variety of other classic Marvel foes.

Wii U players will be able to use their gamepad to access Peter Parker's OsPhone for mission updates, maps and other features, and the pad will also double as a second play screen, allowing you to keep swinging even if someone else is watching TV.

The Ultimate Edition will also include all the previously released DLC for the game at no extra cost. That includes the Lizard Rampage Pack, in which you play as Spidey's scaly nemesis, and the Rhino Challenge, that lets you stomp and charge through the streets causing as much damage as possible before time runs out. Also included is the Oscorp Search and Destroy Pack, adding two more mini-game challenges to the game, and a variety of bonus Spidey suits, such as the civilian "vigilante" outfit from the movie or the costume from Sam Raimi's previous trilogy.

Best of all is the Stan Lee Adventure Pack, which swaps Spider-Man for his gregarious co-creator and Marvel big cheese. Narrated by Stan the Man himself, you'll guide him through the city as he tracks down the missing pages from his latest script.

It's a bumper package, and one that superhero fans would be bonkers to miss. The Amazing Spider-Man: Ultimate Edition is out for Wii U on 8th March.
