WWE 2K24 - Everything You Need To Know
Published on 26th February 2024 by Jerry Hughes
We’re officially on the road to WrestleMania. It started with the Royal Rumble back in January, followed by the Elimination Chamber in February, and now we have another key event in the run up to the main event with the launch of WWE 2K24 in March.
We’ll take a look at the things you really need to know about WWE 2K24 that will get you hyped for when you step into the squared circle again.
WWE 2K24 Release Date
Release dates for WWE 2K24 are 5th March 2024 for the Deluxe Edition, a UK Retail Exclusive for GAME and 8th March 2024 for the Standard Edition, on PS5, PS4 and Xbox.
The Deluxe Edition includes a Bonus Pack featuring Gold MyFACTION cards, alternate attires for Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair, the Nightmare Family Pack featuring Undashing Cody Rhodes, vintage ‘76 Dusty Rhodes, ‘Superstar’ Billy Graham, Stardust and more, and you also get 3-day early access to the game.
WWE 2K24 Cover - Who Is On The Cover
The cover stars are once again different depending on which version you get, the standard version cover star is the current top babyface of the company, Cody Rhodes.
If you get the Deluxe Edition, your cover stars will be the current WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley and the former champion, Bianca Belair.
WWE 2K24 Roster
As always, the roster is packed with a variety of names from legends to current superstars, and the roster for WWE 2K24 looks like it might be the biggest one yet. The key shoutouts for the additions: Playing as Dude Love, Mick Foley’s loveable persona; R-Truth is back on the roster after his successful re-introduction on to TV at the end of the 2023; new female superstars Zelina Vega and Tiffany Stratton (previously DLC) are available at the get-go too, which is great to see!
NXT stars such as Carmelo Hayes, Roxanne Perez, Trick Williams, Cora Jade, Wolfgang and more have recently been announced as additions for the developmental brand.
The best news, however, is the addition of both characters of the late Windham Rotunda. Players will be able to play as both Bray Wyatt and The Fiend Bray Wyatt (previously DLC on WWE 2K23) and already, there has been a huge amount of positivity about the level of detail that has gone into the entrance of the Fiend Bray Wyatt as a great show of respect.
Post Malone was also recently announced as a DLC addition, following on from the announcement of Bad Bunny to the roster last year, who is once again on the WWE 2K24 roster.
Will CM Punk make it onto the roster though? Or will The Best In The World come later as DLC? We’ll find out soon.
WWE 2K24 New Matches
Following the introduction of the War Games mode to WWE 2K23, which came as a huge resounding success, all eyes were on what would be announced for this year, and we were treated to a few brand-new matches.
The first one to talk about is the addition of the Special Guest Referee match. If you’ve been a fan of wrestling for a while, you’ll remember the epic moments of special guest referee matches, including Mike Tyson refereeing Stone Cold Steve Austin vs Shawn Michaels at WreslteMania 14, or Shawn Michael donning the zebra outfit to be the special guest referee for his long time nemesis Bret “The Hitman” Hart vs The Undertaker at SummerSlam 1997. Now is your chance to recreate or make your own legendary special guest referee matches with this new feature.
Other new match types include a match introduced by The Undertaker, the Casket match where you and your opponent will spend the whole time trying to suplex each other into the casket and shut the lid on your rival. As well as this, the Ambulance match and Gauntlet match have been introduced, I for one can’t wait to try and power-bomb someone through the roof of that ambulance.
WWE 2K24 Game Modes
The game modes for WWE 2K24 remain untouched compared to the previous version, WWE 2K23, however these modes have been improved, which is great news. Specifically, there have been new features introduced to the MyGM feature, which was a big hit for big wrestling fans. Being able to draft wrestlers to your own roster vs your friend, control the matches for your own brand and then compete against each other in the ratings was a fun way of bringing something extra and unique to the game.
There has been talk that the legendary Philadelphia based wrestling company, ECW, will be featured on MyGM in WWE 2K24, which makes a lot of sense as WCW is on there with Raw, Smackdown, NXT and NXT 2.0. We’ll have to wait to see if there are new PLE’s added and new match types, ones that complement the ECW brand are worth the attention of our eyes here.
Other game modes such as MyRISE and MyFACTION are back with new improvements and features as well as the 2K Showcase of the Immortals.
WWE 2K24 - 2K Showcase Of The Immortals
The Showcase of the Immortals features key matches from the 40 years of WrestleMania, including Hulk Hogan vs Andre The Giant from WrestleMania III where you can recreate that iconic powerslam, the historic Ladder Match between Razor Ramon and Shawn Michaels from Wrestlemania X, and last year’s headline match of Wrestlemania 39, Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes.
There are still a few matches to be announced, and fans everywhere are taking their turns putting their guesses as to what matches these will be?
With all this in mind, WWE 2K24 looks to be carrying on the torch from WWE 2K23, and be another epic installment of this series, which is improving every year and has now become a key cog in the countdown to WrestleMania.
WWE 2K24 will be available on the PS5, Xbox and PS4 including the Deluxe Edition.
