The 10 Most Anticipated Games of 2024
Published on 15th February 2024 by Guy Lanham
Greetings, fellow gamers! The dawn of 2024 brings with it a surge of anticipation as the gaming community awaits this year's arrival of so many fan favourite franchises.
Last year, we asked our customers what their most anticipated games of 2024 were, so we put pen to paper and worked out a list of the top 10 most anticipated games this year. Read on to find out what games made it onto our list!
10. Hades 2 (8.0%)
Hades 2, the long-awaited sequel developed by Supergiant, is set to make its mark in early 2024.
So, what makes Hades 2 one of our top anticipated games? Fans came to love the original for its roguelike action and adventure. Its unique aesthetics, combined with its fast-paced action quickly made fans fall in love with the series.
This time around, Hades 2 gameplay still retains its roguelike dungeon explorer vibe - something that fans were keen on. This will expand into the mythic Underworld, complete with new locations and upgrade systems.
In this sequel, our playable character Zagreus makes way for Melinoe, the immortal princess of the Underworld. Melinoe will take us deep into the Underworld, where she looks to find and defeat the main baddy, Chronos, who's escaped the shackles of imprisonment and captured Hades.
Hades 2 is expected to be released in Early Access between April and June this year.
9. The Wolf Among Us 2 (8.0%)
Telltale Games returns with the decade-long anticipated sequel to The Wolf Among Us. In this gritty, episodic-format series, we follow the story of Bigby Wolf, the sheriff of Fabletown. Taking place in a parallel universe of the Fables comic book series, our protagonist is based on the iconic Big Bad Wolf character from our favourite fairy tales.
The Wolf Among Us 2 takes place in the wintry streets of New York City. Set six months after the gripping events of the first season, the notorious "Big Bad Wolf" is back with a new case that threatens to cross the line between Fabletown and the NYPD.
The simultaneous release of all episodes aims to deliver a complete experience, allowing players to experience the entirety of this imaginative Telltale series.
The Wolf Among Us 2's release date is TBD.
8. Dragon's Dogma 2 (8.8%)
In 8th place we have Dragon's Dogma 2. This action role-playing title follows in the footsteps of its 2012 predecessor. Dragon's Dogma was hugely successful when it was first released in Japan, shortly followed by a strong reception in the Western market.
Dragon's Dogma is a fantasy action RPG where you take on the role of the Arisen in the land of Gransys. The story kicks off with a dragon named Grigori, known as the harbinger of the apocalypse, wrecking havoc. You, as the Arisen, embark on a quest to defeat the dragon while uncovering a deeper plot as you progress.
In this title we're introduced to new vocations such as the Trickster. Vocations are basically character classes offering different styles of gameplay. We're also treated to new character progression elements, and a dynamic day-night cycle adding an extra layer of immersion. The coolest thing about this cycle is that it impacts the difficulty of encounters, making them more challenging at night time.
Dragon's Dogma 2 released on March 22nd. Get it today on PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X/S.
7. South Park: Snow Day (9.0%)
Fans of the franchise can't wait to get a hold of South Park: Snow Day after the success of its previous titles, The Stick of Truth and the Fractured But Whole.
In this four-player co-op adventure, players join forces with Cartman, Stan, Kyle, and Kenny to roam the wintry streets of South Park. As the New Kid, you have a wide disposal of weapons available to you to fend off enemies from warring factions.
As one would expect, South Park: Snow Day contains tongue-in-cheek humour that fans know and adore. Rated PEGI 16 (it is a South Park game so what would you expect), this is a must have for fans of the show and the games.
For those looking to enhance their experience, our GAME exclusive Collector's Edition offers a plethora of 'Grand Wizard Cartman' themed collectible items, including an enchanting snow globe, a talking Cartman toilet paper holder, a Cartman knit beanie, a set of tarot cards, and the epic original soundtrack. It's a snow day, dude!
South Park: Snow Day is out on the 26th of March. Get it now on PS5, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch and Windows.
6. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 (11.6%)
Voted number 6 on the list is Warhammer 40k: Space Marine 2 with 41% of fans claiming it as their most anticipated title of 2024.
In Space Marine 2, step into the boots of Lieutenant Titus, a fierce warrior navigating a world filled with Tyranids and Chaos forces. Set in the 42nd Millennium, Era Indomitus, Age of the Dark Imperium, the game thrusts players into the heart of conflict as the Imperium of Man launches the Indomitus Crusade.
As Lieutenant Titus, we get to experience the epic campaign against Hive Fleet Leviathan forces on Imperial worlds Avarax and Kadaku. The exciting storyline, together with its intense action makes Space Marine 2 one of the most anticipated games of the year.
Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 is out on the 9th of September. Pre order it now on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
5. Silent Hill 2 Remake (15.7%)
Prepare to revisit the haunting world of Silent Hill 2 in this remake developed by Bloober Team. Voted as the fifth most anticipated game of 2024, fans of the survival horror genre have been waiting since late 2022 for this gem to drop.
The main difference in the remake, aside from the obvious face-lift, is an "over-the-shoulder perspective". This is a massive change of pace, as previously players were stuck with a third person, semi-fixed camera view. This restricted view tracked and panned as the character moved around the screen. What's worse, this would sometimes hinder gameplay during boss encounters, or when the playable character navigated around obstacles. Now, players will get to experience the story of James Sunderland on a more personal level, rather than through a distant lens.
The enhanced visuals, made possible with Unreal Engine 5, alongside a fresh new perspective will make for a truly thrilling experience that longtime fans of the series have been waiting for.
Silent Hill 2 Remake's release date is still TBC. Pre-order it now on Playstation™ 5.
4. Fable 4 (15.7%)
In 4th position, we have Fable 4 with 15.7% of votes as one of the top anticipated games of the year. Although it received just as many votes as Silent Hill 2 Remake did, it charges ahead with a whopping 39% of fans ranking it as their most anticipated (compared to Silent Hill 2 Remake's 27%).
Why is this such a highly anticipated title? Fans of the series have been waiting since 2012 for a new release. However, it goes deeper than that. It's no secret that the Fable series was the first true RPG experience for many gamers around the world. Its enchanting art style, ridiculous characters and general silliness is part of the reason that draws gamers towards Fable 4.
Fable 4 returns with a promising "new beginning" for the series, which has left fans super excited. Playground Games unveiled the first in-game trailer on June 11, 2023, at the Xbox Games Showcase. The trailer not only showcased the game's stunning visuals but also featured actor Richard Ayoade, known for the comedy series IT Crowd.
In Fable 4, everyone's looking forward to a wonderful and bizarre world full of colourful characters and nonsensical fun that made the franchise such a big hit.
Fable 4's release date is still TBC. Pre-order it now on Xbox Series X/S.
3. Tomb Raider I-III Remastered (16.2%)
The 3rd most anticipated game (or games) of 2024 is none other than the remastered Tomb Raider series, originally released in '96, '97 and '98 respectively.
Developed and published by Aspyr, this remastered trilogy brings the classic adventure to modern platforms, including Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC. Scheduled for release on February 14, 2024, this remastered collection invites both longtime fans and newcomers to experience Lara's adventurous exploits with a fresh perspective.
Players can expect enhanced graphics and controls, with the option to choose between modern and original settings. These include the addition of camera lock-on, health bars for boss battles, photo mode, and a variety of achievements.
Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is out now as of the 14th of February, 2024.
2. FF7 Rebirth (20.4%)
Once again, another nostalgic hit sneaks its way into our list as FF7 Rebirth is voted the 2nd most anticipated game of 2024. Not only that, but fans feel strongly about this title as 65% of voters ranked it as their number 1 most anticipated game - far more than any other on our list.
Square Enix invites players back into the world of Final Fantasy with Final Fantasy XII: Rebirth. Serving as the sequel to "Final Fantasy VII Remake" (2020), this instalment follows the journey of Cloud Strife and the eco-terrorist group AVALANCHE.
The story picks up immediately after the events of Final Fantasy VII Remake, spanning locations from Midgar to the Forgotten Capital. Expect to see a beloved party of characters featuring Barret Wallace, Tifa Lockhart, Aerith Gainsborough, Red XIII, and Yuffie Kisaragi.
The game environment expands beyond Midgar, offering a more open-ended world. Players can engage in real-time exploration, embark on Chocobo rides, and traverse an expanded overworld.
The combat system incorporates action-focused melee combat and the Active-Time Battle (ATB) system. This system is similar to traditional turn-based combat, where party members take turns to make a move. In ATB, each battle contains a timer, and instead of waiting for your turn, the characters have a gauge that fills up over time. When the gauge is full, the character can then make their move. In addition to this system, we have a new addition: the "Synergized" mechanic, which enhances all coordinated attacks.
Scheduled for release on February 29, 2024, fans of the franchise are eager to get their hands on this nostalgic gem. Pre order it now on PlayStation™ 5.
1. Star Wars Outlaws (23.8%)
In 1st place we have Star Wars Outlaws with a resounding majority of votes at 23.8%.
Set to release for PlayStation 5™ and Xbox Series X/S in 2024, the game unfolds in the period between "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi".
Players will be taking on the role of the outlaw scoundrel Kay Vess and her companion Nix. As players step into the shoes of Kay Vess, they dive into the criminal underworld, an aspect that has never been explored in a Star Wars game.
As the playable character, you get to experience the life of a space bandit, doing things like taking on contracts to steal Imperial shipments, or going against a contractor's orders for beneficial gain. Whichever path the player decides to take, this will influence Kay's reputation and mould the interactions around her.
This shift in narrative is a breath of fresh air as previous titles focus on the conflicts between the rebels and the imperial forces.
The story is centred around a grandiose attempt at one of the "biggest heists the Outer Rim has ever seen". The player's journey spans several planets, including familiar ones like Tatooine, Kijimi, and Akiva, along with never-before-seen locations such as the moon of Toshara, inspired by the landscapes of the Tanzania Savannah.
Action-wise, players can expect stealth action, hectic gunplay, vehicle combat, space travel and more. It's as if Mad Max, Assassin's Creed and Starfield all melded into one. What's not to love?
Star Wars Outlaws has a lot going for it. It contains all the right ingredients for a highly anticipated title - an explorable open-world, a loveable cast of characters and thrilling gameplay mechanics - all in one of the most beloved IPs in human history.
Star Wars Outlaws' release date is still TBC. Pre order it now on PlayStation 5™ and Xbox Series X/S.

In conclusion, 2024 is shaping up to be a thrilling year for gamers. Whether you're a fan of fantasy, horror, or sci-fi, there's something for everyone. Secure your pre-orders. The countdown to the most exciting games of 2024 has begun!
