Introducing Beyblade X - The Next Gen Beyblades

Published on 16th May 2024 by Guy Lanham

Four Beyblade X Top Spinners

Remember years ago, when spinning top toys named Beyblades were released and took the world by storm? Well, Beyblades are still a thing, and they're returning with a brand new series: Beyblade X! The new Beyblade X wave is releasing on 15th of June, 2024.

You can preorder now to stay ahead of the curve and receive an exclusive Beyblade Playmat when pre-ordering the Beyblade X Xtreme Battle Set at GAME!

The set contains an impressive lineup of next-generation Beyblade Tops, stadiums and accessories, which we detail in this article.

So buckle up and let it rip as we provide all details about the upcoming new range of Beyblade X!

What are Beyblades?

If you didn't know, Beyblades are spinning top toys with different, colourful designs and shapes. These spinning toys are designed to battle each other until only one is left standing.

The Beyblade toyline was first introduced in 1999, in Japan by Takara, who later merged with Tomy. Since then, various toylines released in addition to manga and anime series. The toys are said to be inspired by traditional spinning top toys known as 'Beigama', hence the name Beyblades.

What is Beyblade X?

Beyblade X is the fourth Generation of the series and is developed by Takara Tomy. In addition to the new product line, an anime series was released in 2023 introducing new characters and battles that are reflected in the upcoming releases.

There are a few key points that come with this new release - the first of which is the new stadium design. That's right, the new stadium design includes an X-Celerator Gear system which allows the Beys to ride in and dash around the stadium. This new mechanic is referred to as Xtreme Dash. One thing's for sure, this time around Bey battles are going to be more action-packed than ever before, and we can't wait!

The X-Celerator rail can be found in the new BayBlade X Extreme Battle Set and the Beyblade X Beystadium Battle Arena. Plus, when you pre-order the Beyblade X Xtreme Battle Set at GAME, you get an exclusive Beyblade Playmat too! The other key point is the change to the points system, which is based on the new stadium design. Read on for more details.

What are the types of Beyblades?

There are four types of Beyblade detailed below:

  • Attack: built with the sole intention of knocking out the opponents. Attack type Beyblades can spin and dash at high speeds and will often collide with other Beys. They're built to deal repeated damage and can sometimes even burst opposing Beyblades.
  • Defence: the heaviest type of Beyblade, these juggernauts are designed to withstand attacks and hold their own. They compete to dominate the middle position in a Beystadium.
  • Stamina: Typically, Stamina-type Beyblades are designed to dodge hits from opponents. They tend to outlast other types. However, they are prone to attack-type Beys which can knock them out easily due to their low-friction tips.
  • Balance: jack-of-all-trades but master of none. These beys are designed to withstand long battles but also offer some threat with their offensive design. One example is the Scythe Incendio - a red Beyblade that can win against any type of battle in a stadium. Great choice for those who want an all-rounder.

The first wave of Beyblade X models are made up of three simple parts: the blade, the ratchet and the bit. It's worth noting that the parts are interchangeable in the Beyblade X collection but they are not compatible with the previous generation of Beyblade Burst models.

Different combinations of these parts can result in different characteristics, with some components offering a more attacking playstyle and others more defensive. Some Beys even have metal coatings, which give them more offensive advantages.

As of 2024, there are probably hundreds of Beyblade models and each one is built and designed differently depending on its type.

Bey Battles

In Bey Battles, it's not all about who can deal the most damage. To win Bey Battles, players must strategise and plan for the best outcome.

There's different types of outcomes in Bey Battles that came about with the previous generation. There's the overfinish, the spin-finish and the burst finish. The new generation - Beyblade X introduces a new finish - the Xtreme Finish. This is essentially a variation of the overfinish. But more on this later.

New Beyblade X Game Rules

With the launch of Beyblade X, the first player to earn 4 points wins, compared to 3 points in the previous generation.

In the previous gen (Beyblade Burst), points were simply awarded for knockout and spinout finishes. In the new Beyblade X format, points can be earned in more ways.

Firstly, players are awarded two points for knocking a Beyblade into one of 4 outer pockets in a stadium called the over-zone (Overfinish). Three points are awarded for knocking Beys into the Extreme-zone (Xtreme Finish), which is the largest pocket in the stadium. Two points are awarded for a Burst finish, which is when a Bey's top pops out during battle! Finally, only one point is awarded for a spinout finish.

The new rules will certainly change the pace of the game and make for more explosive matches!

The New Beyblade X Extreme Product Line

The first wave of Beyblades has so much variety to offer. There are booster packs, stadiums and accessories to enhance your arsenal. Without further ado, here's a detailed list of each release:

Beyblade X Extreme Battle Set

Beyblade X Extreme Battle Set

The stadium itself pockets for the Beys to fall in during battle. Another new, unique feature of this set is the X-Celerator Gear system. This is a rail that goes along the internal edge of the stadium, which allows the spinning Beyblades' gears to ride along the rail, building up speed for fast-paced battles!
